The top shell is usually black and brown with yellow stripes. The bottom shell is mostly yellow. The skin is olive green, with yellow patches on the neck and legs.
Yellow-bellied Sliders are diurnal, which means that they feed in the mornings. The spend the rest of the day sunning themselves, and the nights at the bottom of the water or near brush on the surface.
They are omnivores. Their diet ranges from leaves, roots, and fruit, to frogs, tadpoles, and small fish.
Yellow-bellied sliders can live up to 30 years or more.
