Red-shouldered Hawk

Red-shouldered Hawks are commonly seen in the tall trees east of the rookery.

Wings: Brown and white patterned.
Chest: Rusty red barring.
Legs: Yellow.
Feet: Yellow, with sharp claws.
Bill: Short, hooked, and sharp.

When red-shouldered hawks fly over the rookery, they upset most of the other birds. They are one of three raptors seen from the rookery, along with Ospreys and Bald Eagles.

Red-shouldered hawks are typically about 2 feet tall, with wingspans of a bit more than 3.5 feet.

Red-shouldered hawks typically eat small rodents, like mice and small rats, as well as small snakes, lizards, and frogs.
