If you see a big white bird at the rookery, it is probably a Great Egret. They are the most common bird that breeds at the rookery.
Feathers: All white.
Legs: Black.
Feet: Black.
Bill: Yellow.
Breeding: Long, whispy feathers.
Breeding: Green streak from bill to eyes.
At over 3 feet tall, and almost 5-foot wingspan, they tower over the Snowy Egrets.
During breeding season, adults have long, whispy feathers, and a green streak that extends from their beak to their eyes.
They spend most of their time at the rookery on the top layer of canopy of the island.
Each pair are seasonally monogamous, and lay up to 6 pale blue-green eggs.
They eat minnows, fish, shrimp, and other crustaceans.
